Preparing the Organic Advisors of Tommorow: Innovative Agricultural Experts and Extension Officers familiarised with Agro-Ecology Principles, Blended-Learning, and Modern ICT Tools

The language of the training is English and the educational material will be available in English.

 

It is a Grundtvig grant (adult education) training activity.

 

The education sector of the participants are adult education provider, second chance or remedial education, higher education institution offering outreach courses for adults, organisations working with migrant groups/ethnic minorities, centres for guidance, councelling or accreditation, other sectors of adult education

 

The target audience teachers (Pre-school, primary, secondary, vocational, adult, special needs), agricultural professionals, extension officers.

 

The training is an in-service training in the field of sciences, natural sciences, biology and environment, new technologies, other courses for teachers of sciences (organic agriculture and e-learning)

During the weeks following the training course the participants will have the opportunity through conducting specially designed mini-projects to further apply what they have learnt by searching and finding educational resources following the learning objects paradigm and sharing them through the establishment of a test community of practice. The participants will be welcome to systematically participate to the Organic.Edunet, Organic.Mednet, and Organic.Balkanet projects’ user groups. The training team will provide to the participants all the necessary guidelines and support to implement the proposed approaches in their professional context.

12th September 2010:

Introduction and overview of the Course from Prof. Laszlo Radics. Presentation of the participants and their prepared training ideas/scenarios.

Introductory Keynote Talk.

13th September 2010:

Converting from conventional farming to organic [Lecture, 2 hours]

Agroecology principles – Indicators of sustainability [Lecture, 2 hours]

Visit to an organic experimental farm [4 hours]

14th September 2010:

Organic Farming Legislation/ Certification and Standards [Lecture, 2 hours]; Specialised topics in organic agriculture depending on the country of the participants [Parallel workshops: 4 hours].

15th September 2010:

Managing and administering an organic farm [Lecture, 2 hours]

Packaging and marketing organic products in new markets [Lecture, 2 hours]

Case studies of succesful organic farmers [Workshop: 4 hours]

16th September 2010:

Blended training methods to approach, educate and advise farmers [Lecture, 2 hours]; Active pedagogical strategies and best practices for using digital teaching & learning resources [Lecture, 2 hours]

Participation to European Conference [3 hours]

17th September 2010:

Strategies for searching information and educational material online [Lecture, 2 hours] How language teaching material can be organised in personal e-Portfolios  [Workshop, 2 hours]

Participation to European Conference [3 hours]

18th September 2010:

How to design your own learning resources using e-Learning methods & tools  [Lecture, 2 hours]

Designing training scenarios for farmer education [Lecture, 2 hours]

Collaborative adaptation of existing training scenarios to the needs of own country, [Workshop, 2 hours]

Hands-on work with presented tools, focus on case studies [Workshop, 2 hours]

19th September 2010:

Closing - Conclusions - Presentation of Participants work [2 hours].

The fee of the training is 700 € it including (accommodation, breakfast and 1 meal)

Course fee is (tuition and materials): 400 €

The fee of the cancellation is: 200€
